Aspect Ratioconversion to make a more pleasurable viewing experience.
One of the main questions we get asked is how we handle traditional 4:3 video footage and if we can provide a service which makes this footage more pleasurable when watched on a wide-sreen TV.
Well the answer to the question sits within our wide-screen conversion service, We can take traditional 4:3 footage and then using using high quality video processors can convert this into an aspect ratio called 14:9. We also maintain image aspect ratio without stretching any image so the video will look perfectly normal.
The reason we select 14:9 is because this sits midway between both 4:3 and 16:9 and provides a great solution whilst maintaining 90% of the original image. Please review the images below, the top image is before processing and the lower image is after processing . The effect is very subtle but when watching on a large screen you will be amazed how much more pleasurable to watch the footage becomes.
Our workflow is totally digital and consists of professional grade video processors and digital recorders. The section below details the main components and advantages.
The Teranex system pictured below is an ultra high quality video processor capable of providing stunning results from poor quality source video. The system incorporates high quality noise reduction filters which remove video noise or grain whilst maintaining a high level of video detail.
The system also features advanced technology such as SD to HD upscaling and worldwide format conversion allowing material to be converted from PAL, NTCS or Secam.
Once the Teranex system has created a high quality video signal we then use technology from a company called AJA to record the video source to a high quality video file in either Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD. The AJA KiPro Rack system is pictured below.
Finally we prepare your transfer to either Blu-Ray or HD Video File. We can create video files in whatever format you require. If you wish to retain the pure high quality video files which come from our AJA KiPro recorder then just ask and we are happy to assist.
